We have been living in the downstairs apartment of my Dad's house since Thanksgiving of 2016. While not ideal, it has been nice to have a real home to live in again. We don't fully have use of the entire apartment as my Dad's wife has many of her things still here. So, we live around them. For instance, the children don't have a "real" bedroom so we hung tapestries from the ceiling to create a bedroom space for them. It is the best room the kids have ever had? Undoubtedly, no. Are they happy regardless? Yes. They have real beds, (they don't know it yet but, we're getting them a bunk bed tonight!), and they have plenty of space for their toys. We make it work.
We have, up till now, spent most of our time inside. (Mountain weather!) With spring creeping into the yard and stirring up our cabin fever, we have all resolved to go outside as often as the sunshine allows. There is lots of yard to have in with a giant mud puddle, gardening boxes, the chickens, trees to hide and seek around, and grassy places for picnics. The front entryway, however, has never been a place to spend time. It was filled with rocks, concrete pieces, and a large black trough. Sounds lovely, right? Not so much.
To thank my Dad for all he has done for us, James and I decided to fix up the ugly entryway. With the children's and the chicken's help we repurposed as much of the existing concrete and rocks and planted some of our Rabbit Patch Wildflower Seeds.
Thank you, Sansa, Arya, and Ella! Those bugs are as good as gone!
Daenerys is on the hunt! Just look at her fluffy feeties!
Sansa is a very serious chicken. Those worms won't eat themselves!
Ella is determined to get to the bugs first this time!
Goldie loves to help James when he's digging up yummy treats for her.
We reused my Dad's concrete circles to create a nice border for the flower patch!
All done! Wildflower seeds are in the ground and watered! Now we wait for them start blooming!
We used the same Wildflower Seed mix we have packaged for all of you! I'll keep posting updated pictures so you can see what beautiful flowers you could be growing as well!
Peace in!
