We, finally, left the Motel 6 in Hesperia, CA! Molly has had a check up and should be good, for a while. Whew!
As we left Hesperia, I was saddened to see that the state of California, the state we all consider to be a "Green, Eco" state, was covered in trash.
There was so much of it, the towns had put up fences along the roads to hold it back! There was trash as far as the eye could see, stretching out into the desert. Now, I am NOT a huge fan of the desert right now but, I think it should be better taken care of than that. (Watch our video of the roadside trash!) Such a disappointment. :(
After leaving the towns behind, we were given a tip to drive HWY 58 to the coast. They said it was faster and "easier" passes. I call malarky! The switchbacks were CRAZY!!!! It took forever and ate up our gas but, it WAS beautiful. The hills were lit up with the orangest sunset I have ever seen! Even Hermione loved it! She slept right through it on the dash. :)
It was dark by the the time we pulled into a coastal town, looking for a room. (Almost $300 per night! I don't think so!) We couldn't afford anywhere in town but we had come so far, we had to see the beach. We all threw on our shoes and huffed it down to the sandy, nighttime shore. I have no idea what it looked like down there but, the water was cold and refreshing and the sand was perfect! We didn't want to leave Molly alone for too long though, so we ran back up the hill quickly. We ended up parking in a pull out on the beach near Morro Bay. It was peaceful, falling asleep to the roar of the crashing waves. We are here! On the beach! YES!!!
The next morning, (my camera and phone were dead), we walked down to the water. My children ran into the waves with James and I built a sandcastle! LOL! We all played in the sand and water for about an hour, the started out again, this time along the Pacific Coast Highway, (PCH).
More of our adventures to come! Keep checking back with us for updates!
