Light at the end of the tunnel

James

The story continues..... after getting back on the road at 9:30 at night, we decided that, since we were EXHAUSTED now, we would just make it to the next rest stop (22 miles outside of Barstow) and rest until morning. Sounds simple right?! NOT!!!!!! while puttering up another hill (as you know, Molly doesn't like them) she quits on us!!!! engine stalls out, won't start! WON'T EVEN CLICK!!!!!! 10:30 at night and we are stranded again!!!!! and not even at the rest stop we wanted! OH NO! just smack dab in the middle of the mojave desert, on the side of the highway, doing some carryover baking on the hot asphalt. Semi trucks blowing by us all loud and rocking our molly with gusts of wind (while the movement was soothing at times, others seemed to almost push us right over), a train blowing its whistle not far from the highway, but we had to sleep and prepare to get us out of the desert in the morning.

Awakened by yet another semi blowing past us, we immediately think to call highway patrol! an hour later, Officer Timothy James McCoy stopped to help us out! and while outside with the officer, i found that the spare that we JUST put on was missing all of its tread! steel belt was showing all the way around the tire, it could have blown at any moment!!! but the officer got us in touch with a tow company, Desert Valley Towing , and even made sure we had plenty of water and such to keep us alive. it was quite a while until we saw the tow truck driver, but finally around 2:30 in the afternoon, help arrives in a big rig driven by a biker santa clause named Randy! at first glance, he seemed grumpy (i wouldn't blame him, its the blimy desert!!!!), but he set my family up in his cab, with the A/C

blasting, while we got molly hooked up on the trailer. after he and i got in the truck, he shared a few bottles of cool water with us, told us the rules of his rig, which were as follows; no sneezing or crying, but farting was ok!!! (getting the kids to laugh after Roran sneezed). and we are off to barstow!!!! well i thought we were going to barstow anyways. i ended up dozing off, but Randy and Christie (the tow shop dispatch lady) were diligent and found that no one in barstow wanted to work on molly, so he continued on to take us to Hesperia. brought us to a Motel 6, collected payment over the phone from my helpful father-in-law, Kuno, dropped molly off his trailer, offered me a job, and went on his way. For the next couple of days, Randy and Christie helped us get people to work on molly so we can get back on the road. Thankfully, the Motel had a pool that us and the kids have enjoyed a few times now. Alice can do a cannonball

from the side without holding her nose!!!! so proud of that little girl! and Roran is getting more daring by going to the deep end where his little toes can't even touch the bottom. and that brings us to Today, Friday the 29th, and molly should be fixed today so we can get back on the road! check back for more updates :)
