Colorado day for the chickies

Today was the ultimate Colorado weather day! It was warm, rainy, snowy, cold, and finally sunny! How did our dear chickies fair? They LOVED it! We haven't had more than 5 eggs in a day in almost a month. Today we had 6!

Goldie Hen, being the resident senior hen, did not, however, care for the cold and snow. She spent her day inside the coup, under the heat lamps. Every time I went to check on her, she would give me that sideways, "what are you looking at" glance, and grumble to herself. I feel she must have been either cursing at me for the cold and lack of fresh veggies, or complaining about the other hens always sitting in HER nest. She made it. It's hers.

Henny Penny started her day by following me into the kitchen, (she's very spoiled). She was gifted with leftovers from last night's dinner and seemed content, for a while. Henny did attempt to lay her egg on my ever growing pile of laundry! Thankfully, I know her laying noises pretty well and was able to rush her to the box in time.

King Huggs yelled at the snow for a while then brought everyone into the coup for a few hours. He's such a good patriarch.

The Middles were very nonplussed by the weather. They had some of the new batch of fodder to warm them up.

Hopefully, tomorrow will bring us more sunshine and chicken antics. :)
